So this time Marvel decided to do a different kind of event; instead of a bundle of characters, an overarching plot and tons-of action they decided to do a mystery involving the murder of The Watcher and a group of superheroes trying to solve the mystery while also trying to deal with the consequences of the death. But sadly the story fell flat on its face with the mystery being not much of a mystery and with horrible pacing as of dragging a 4-5 issue series into 8-9 issues.

It all starts with a question, 'Who killed the Watcher?' Uatu, the mysterious space-god who observes mankind from the moon, is murdered. All the major superheroes travels to moon to begin the search for the murderer, while Nick Fury assembles three separate teams to leads a cosmic manhunt to the far corners of the universe. Slowly (painfully so at times) the mystery is unveiled while other forces marshal and other questions arise. It all ends with some major revelations and yes, you guessed it some status queue changes.

The story is very slow paced and multiple time if felt like the writer is just dragging the story needlessly. The little substance that is present in the story is made laughable by the characters detecting prowess as they miss obvious things throughout. The plot twists are at times totally predictable while at other times feel like methods used to needlessly lengthen the plot.

One good thing about the series is while it has the signature characters it also has some unique characters that fury's teams are made up of, and their team dynamic makes for some enjoyable read at times. But the villains are just ridiculous, it seems as if marvel ran out of ideas in these department so they used second tier characters there. 

The art on the other hand is simply gorgeous, Mike Deodato really did an outstanding job in this regard. All the scenarios are eye catching and the little bits of action sequences which are there really shines through his art.

In the end 'Original Sin' seems like a great idea which never really got to show for itself due to some poor execution and unnecessary lengthening.

This gets  2.5 out of 5 stars.
