May 2017 New PC Games To Watch For

May seems to be a pretty dry month in terms of PC games. Yet, despite the lack of good games I did manage to pull of a working list in the end.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a Japanese role-playing video game by Nihon Falcom. It serves as the third entry, and epilogue, to the Trails in the Sky trilogy of video games. The game is part of Falcom's overarching The Legend of Heroes series of video games, and takes place in the same fictional universe as other Trails related titles in the series. The game plays similarly to its predecessors, a role-playing video game with turn-based battles, but this time enemies have affinities to the three higher elements of time, space and mirage. Other additions are the turn bonuses of "rush", allowing the player to take two actions at once, "guard", which nullifies any damage, "vanish", which makes a target disappear for a few turns, and "death", which gives the attack the effect of an instant death. Throughout the games' dungeons the player will find doors engraved with symbols of the moon, stars and the sun, which trigger, respectively, long story scenes, short story scenes, and mini-games. Those scenes usually tell the story of past events and may feature battles. Xseed Games has licensed the game for PC and it was released in May 3, 2017.

Prey

Prey is a first person shooter video game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. In Prey, the player controls Morgan Yu while exploring the space station Talos I, in orbit around Earth–Moon L2, where research into a hostile alien collective called the Typhon is performed. As the Typhon escape confinement, the player uses a variety of weapons and abilities derived from the Typhon to avoid being killed by the aliens while looking to escape the station. The player gains access to areas of the station through a Metroidvania style of progression by acquiring key items and abilities, eventually allowing the player to fully explore the station in an open world setting. The game was released worldwide on 5 May 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The Surge

The Surge is a science fiction, action role-playing video game developed by Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is considered a spiritual successor to Deck13 Interactive's earlier action role-playing game Lords of the Fallen, with which it shares many gameplay features. Deck13 Interactive described the game as inspired by 'Rise of the Robots' and the 'Souls' series. The Surge is designed in the challenging role-playing game style of the Souls series of games. The gameplay involves players using an exoskeleton to battle enemies. The exoskeleton can be customized through the game using "modular upgrades", according to the developer. The combat allows players to target different body parts of enemies, as well as utilize finishing moves often ending in dismemberment in bullet time fashion. The game was released in May 16, 2017.

RiME

Rime (stylized as RiME) is an adventure–puzzle video game developed by Tequila Works for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It features a land of discovery stretching out before you. Explore the beautiful yet rugged world of RiME, a single-player puzzle adventure. In RiME, you play as a young boy who has awakened on a mysterious island after a torrential storm. You see wild animals, long-forgotten ruins and a massive tower that beckons you to come closer. Armed with your wits and a will to overcome—and the guidance of a helpful fox—you must explore the enigmatic island, reach the tower's peak, and unlock its closely guarded secrets. he game was released for most platforms on May 26, 2017, except for the Switch, will be released at a later date.

BONUS ENTRY

Injustice 2 (released on PS4, Xbox One, Android and iOS so far)

Injustice 2 is a fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is the sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game was released in May 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Similar to the previous installment, a companion mobile app was released for iOS and Android devices. The core gameplay remains similar to its predecessor, albeit with minor adjustments to returning game mechanics. Injustice 2 introduces a new feature called the Gear System, a loot-dropping system that rewards players with costume pieces and equipment that can be used to customize characters' appearances and modify their abilities and stats. Injustice 2 released in North America on May 16, 2017; Australia on May 17, 2017; and the United Kingdom on May 19, 2017, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Like its predecessor, a free-to-play mobile app based on Injustice 2 was released for iOS and Android devices on May 11, 2017.

[ The only things that I am interested in among these is 'The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd' and 'Injustice 2' if it ever comes out on PC and I get a PC strong enough to play it. ]
